Suzuki Motor to supply components for 110-150cc bikes to Malaysia’s KMSB
Suzuki Motor Corp will supply engine and body parts for KMSB Motors’ 110cc to 150cc motorcycles starting first half of 2024. The parts will be sourced from Suzuki plants in Southeast Asia.
Suzuki Motor Corporation is increasing its investment in motorcycle manufacturing in Malaysia. Last week, the Japanese automaker signed a contract with Malaysian company KMSB Motors to supply engine and other parts for local motorcycle production.
The contract was signed on September 15 and the conclusion ceremony was held at the Prime Minister’s Office of Malaysia on the same day, accompanied by the Prime Minister, Anwar Ibrahim, with KMSB president Faez Yahaya and Suzuki Motor Corp president Toshihiro Suzuki attending.
KMSB is a group company of AFY Mobility Industries Sdn Bhd, a sole shareholder of Suzuki Malaysia, which produces and sells Suzuki-brand motorcycles in Malaysia. KMSB plans to launch its own motorcycle brand, called AFAZ.
Suzuki Motor Corp plans to supply engine and body parts for models ranging from 110cc to 150cc of the AFAZ brand starting from the first half of 2024. The supplied parts will be from Suzuki’s plants in Southeast Asia.
At the ceremony, President Toshihiro Suzuki said, “In addition to sales of motorcycles, Suzuki would like to contribute to the expansion and prosperity of the Malaysian motorcycle market and industry through supplying parts to KMSB.”
