Ssangyong Motor’s global sales up 1.1% in March

The Mahindra Group-owned Ssangyong Motor recorded global sales of 13,010 units in March 2016 – 9,069 units in domestic sales and 3,941 in exports.

Its global sales surged by 23% from the previous month and 1.1% from the same month last year thanks to sales uptrend of Tivoli and Tivoli Air, which has led the company's domestic sales growth along with Tivoli since its launch in early March.

The Tivoli and Tivoli Air are creating a synergistic effect as the cumulative contracts for Tivoli Air have surpassed 3,500 units since its launch in early March. The company expects the Tivoli Air to play a key role to create new sub-mid SUV market. Furthermore, the combined contracts for Tivoli brand models -Tivoli and Tivoli Air- exceeded 8,500 in March.

Ssangyong's domestic sales recorded 9,069 units, up 29.9% from the previous month and 17.5% from the same month last year helped by robust sales of Tivoli brand models that jumped by 69.7% compared to March 2015 and its other main SUVs.

Ssangyong's exports in March soared by 9.7% over the previous month thanks to Tivoli Air exports to the European markets, while its year-on-year exports dropped by 23.5% due to reduced demands in the emerging markets.

Since the exports of Tivoli brand models increased by 37.1% compared to the same month last year, the company expects great improvement in overseas market soon, especially once Tivoli Air starts to be exported.

Choi Johng-sik, CEO of Ssangyong Motor, commented, "Both Tivoli and Tivoli Air create a synergistic effect so that their contracts are continuously increasing. We will make utmost efforts to meet increasing demand for Tivoli brand by operating production system in an efficient way as well as by launching Tivoli Air globally."
