SAIC-GM-Wuling launches Wuling Rong Guang mini pickup

SAIC-GM-Wuling has expanded the Rong Guang family of vehicles with the new Wuling Rong Guang mini pickup. Four variants powered by a choice of 1.5 litre or 1.8-litre engines, and a single or crew cab, are available for between RMB 45,800 (Rs 473,722) and RMB 52,800 (Rs 546,126).

The Rong Guang mini pickup, which is targeted at the fast-growing e-commerce market in China and aims to capitalise on Wuling’s reputation for products that can “handle large loads, run fast, and offer reliability and quality.”

The company says the Rong Guang mini pickup meets users’ needs for even more cargo space, while being able to enter tight parking areas. The single cab has a length of 3,150mm and width of 1,630mm, and its bed has a height of 360mm. The crew cab has a length of 2,450mm and width of 1,630mm, and its bed has a height of 360mm.

SAIC-GM-Wuling says the separate design of the cab and bed has improved the overall strength of the Rong Guang mini pickup; the tyres have enhanced grip, while leaf springs have been added to the rear wheels, for a smoother and safer ride. In addition, the Rong Guang mini pickup gets electronic Electric Power Steering (EPS) across its lineup for easier handling.
