SAIC-GM-Wuling launches new Baojun E100 EV
Over 21,000 E100s have been sold since the vehicle was launched last August. Next-gen model gets extended driving range of 200km and more functional upgrades.
SAIC-GM-Wuling has officially launched the new Baojun E100, an all-electric vehicle with an extended driving range of 200km and more functional upgrades, in the China market.
Originally offered only in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, the new E100 will now be available in Qingdao, Shandong, as well. The two variants are priced at RMB 46,800 (Rs 494,437) and RMB 59,800 (Rs 631,781) after national and local subsidies.
Over 21,000 E100s have been sold since the vehicle was launched last August. Defined as “the second car for urban families,” the E100 was developed to address the “pain points” of driving, including parking difficulties, high vehicle purchase and usage costs, and environmental pollution.
The new E100 was upgraded with customer and user input. Most notably, its range has increased almost 30 percent from 155km to 200km. Additional upgrades include the adoption of Bluetooth phone functionality via an in-vehicle PAD, an automatic pedestrian warning switch and the intelligent lock function on charging equipment. In addition, the Zhixing variant has a new door handrail and storage box, while the Zhixiang variant has an automatic folding rearview mirror and parking camera.
The new E100 maintains its predecessor’s stylish two-door, two-seat design. It 2,488mm long, 1,506mm wide, 1,617mm tall and weighs 800kg. Its lithium battery can be charged using a standard 220V outlet. The new E100 has a maximum speed of 100kph.
The new E100 comes with a three-year or 60,000km overall vehicle warranty, and eight-year or 120,000km warranty for core parts. Through an exclusive app, users can book aftersales service and vehicle maintenance at any time. Those who purchase a new E100 will receive free home charging equipment installation as well as free charging through December 31, says the company.
