SAIC-GM-Wuling launches Baojun 510 with AMT

Chinese automaker SAIC-GM-Wuling has launched the popular Baojun 510 SUV with an automated manual transmission (AMT) in the domestic market.

The SUV gets a new rotary gearshift dial on the centre console and for those who want the Baojun 510 with sporty driving performance, there’s the Baojun 510 iAMT which gets steering wheel paddle shifters.

According to SAIC-GM-Wuling, the Baojun 510 1.5L iAMT gets a range of amenities normally found in premium SUVs. They include a semi-open panoramic sunroof, air-conditioning with automatic constant temperature control, keyless entry, push-button start, cruise control, and heated and folding outside rearview mirrors that can be adjusted electronically. Its 8-inch LCD screen incorporates a reverse camera and can be connected to users’ smartphones.

The two new variants of the Baojun 510 are priced at RMB 68,800 and RMB 75,800. They join the three original variants with a manual transmission to meet customers’ different demands. The Baojun 510 is the brand’s second most popular model, with deliveries of 153,771 units in the first eight months of 2017.
