Ricardo has announced plans to collaborate with Enable Inc of Japan to enable improved delivery of services to its Japanese automotive customers.

The benefits of collaboration will include the locally based testing of products being developed internationally by Ricardo, and the delivery of advanced calibration services through Enable Inc. facilities.

Based in Kariya, Japan, Enable Inc provides a range of testing and prototype manufacturing services to the Japanese automotive industry, including engine testing, prototype and concept vehicle preparation, the development of test equipment, the manufacture of jigs and prototype parts, and the modification of vehicles for dual fuel and CNG use. The company is expanding and is in the process of building a new facility with powertrain test beds which it intends to use for the delivery of calibration services.

Ricardo has had offices in Yokohama for many years, which provide access for Japanese customers to the company’s global network of multi-industry technical facilities, and expertise in areas including research and prototype development of engines, chassis systems, transmissions, and hybrid and electric powertrains. The company also has extensive capabilities in the advanced calibration of automotive products for regulatory compliance, low emissions and high fuel efficiency.

In order to facilitate increased and improved collaboration between Ricardo and Enable, for the benefit of their respective customers in Japan, the two companies have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

“Ricardo and Enable provide an excellent fit for the collaboration we plan under the MoU signed between us,” commented Ricardo Japan president Akio Okamura. “This will mean that Ricardo customers in Japan will benefit from improved access to local test and prototype development facilities on the engineering projects that we carry out for them using our extensive network of international technical centres. At the same time, we will be able to provide Enable with expert advice and assistance for the calibration services that they provide to their customers.”

“Enable and Ricardo share an ethos of providing excellent customer service and the highest standards of quality in engineering and testing,” added Enable Inc president Yasumasa Matsuda. “We look forward to a mutually beneficial collaboration with Ricardo that will add value to the Japanese customers of both our companies.”
