Ricardo to assist China’s JAC with Dual Clutch Transmission technology

Building on its successful and longstanding history of collaboration with JAC – one of China’s largest vehicle manufacturers – Ricardo of the UK has been requested to provide assistance in providing an objective and unbiased assessment of a new Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) under development by the Chinese automaker.

Under the contract announced today, Ricardo will produce a comprehensive and objective engineering assessment of JAC’s prototype DTR630 OTS transmission. In particular, the performance of the unit will be evaluated against best-in-class international competitor products in terms of NVH, efficiency and shift quality.

“We are confident that Ricardo can use its rich experience, specialized knowledge and expertise to deliver this project on time and with high quality,” commented Zhang Zuoyang, deputy director of JAC Technical Centre. “We hope too that this project is the start point of further successful collaboration between JAC and Ricardo.”

“Ricardo is very pleased to have been selected by JAC for this important project,” added Ricardo Asia president Gary Tan. “As one of the world’s pioneers of DCT technology and with our extensive presence within the Chinese market, we are ideally placed to support JAC with its ambitions to deliver an internationally competitive product.”
