Proton cars to now get electronic parts from MCE

MCE Holdings Berhad (Malaysia) has secured contracts to supply electronics and mechatronic parts for the new car models to be launched under the Proton brand, helping the company generate over RM62 million (Rs 104 crore) in total revenue over the next 10-year period of supply.

The original equipment manufacturer, in an exchange filing, noted that the supply of the parts will be undertaken by its wholly-owned unit, MultiCode Electronics Industries (M) Berhad, starting from the first quarter of the financial year and ends on July 31 next year.

MCE will invest RM4.8 million (Rs 8.07 crore) in the project. DRB-Hicom has 43% stake in Proton. DRB-Hicom has partnered with Tata Motors for supplying CVs in Malaysia. Previously, DRB-Hicom had also launched Tata Xenon pickup, Prima and Prima Mover. Geely has 49.9% stake in the Malaysian carmaker Proton.

DHCV (DRB-Hicom commercial vehicles) aims to revive the Tata brand in the Malaysian market.
