The Norma Group, a global market leader for engineered joining technology, has received recognitions for its production facility in Qingdao, China, by General Motors Company (GM) and Ford Motor Company. The GM Supplier Quality Excellence Award for the assessment year 2013/2014 and the Ford Q1 certification were granted for Norma Group's outstanding performance in China.

The Ford Q1 status and the GM supplier award are conferred on suppliers that meet the vehicle manufacturers' high production, logistics and service standards. Evaluation criteria include the quality of products and manufacturing processes, the reliability of supply, innovative strength and quality management systems.

"We are particularly proud that we have been awarded by two automotive OEMs in China at a time. The recognitions confirm that our production is in excellent shape and clients are very satisfied with our products and services", says Bernd Kleinhens, Norma Group board member responsible for business development and the Asia-Pacific region. "Our thanks go first and foremost to our colleagues in Qingdao for their first-rate work on site and their commitment to continually improving the production processes."

Norma Group's Qingdao facility has been manufacturing joining technology including fluid systems, urea lines and V profile clamps for numerous automotive clients since 2008. The company significantly expanded the site's production capabilities in 2011. The Group opened its second Chinese plant in Changzhou, some 200 kilometres outside of Shanghai, in May 2014.
