Nissan sells 447,385 units globally in October 2018, down 2.2%

The carmakers’ global sales and exports from Japan declined for the month of October 2018.

Japanese carmaker Nissan has reported selling 447,385 units globally in October 2018, a decrease of 2.2 percent YoY. The company claims that the sales of its mini-vehicles in Japan surpassed year-earlier results for the third consecutive month while the global cumulative sales declined in comparison to October 2017. 

In comparison to other regions, Nissan enjoyed its highest sales figures from North America (146,950) and China (142,078) in the month of October 2018. Nissan states that it sold 4,663,325 units between January-October 2018 in comparison to 4,766,575 units for the same period last year. For the month of October, Nissan sold 447,385 units (-2.2%). Nissan has reported a 131.2% YoY growth (23,144 units) in the sales of its passenger vehicles in Japan, while the sales of its commercial vehicles grew by 90.4% YoY (5,198 units).

Exports from Japan has been dismal for Nissan with a 29.7 percent decline (42,452 units) in October 2018. Its biggest decline seems to have come from the European region with a 95.1 percent slide (413 units).

The company reported that its global production volume has increased by 1.5 percent (523,556 units) in October 2018. For January-October 2018, Nissan’s global production figure stood at 4,587,236 units, a drop of 4.8 percent as compared to the earlier year. The company claims that its global production in October surpassed year-earlier results for the first time in nine months, setting a record for the month of October. They have further claimed that the production outside Japan surpassed year-earlier results for the first time in nine months, setting a record for the month of October.  Nissan manufactured 153,463 units in China for the month of October 2018 which is said to have surpassed the year-earlier results, thus setting a record for the month.
