Nissan’s global output up 7.2% in July but sales flat

Nissan Motor Co today announced its production, sales and export figures for July 2016. While global production rose 7.2% year-on-year to 403,517 units, global sales decreased 0.3% year-on-year to 431,593 units.

Nissan’s global output up 7.2% in July but sales flat

Nissan Motor Co today announced its production, sales and export figures for July 2016. While global production rose 7.2% year-on-year to 403,517 units, global sales decreased 0.3% year-on-year to 431,593 units.

Production rises for sixth consecutive month
July 2016 was Nissan’s sixth consecutive month of increase. While production in Japan decreased 2.9% year-on-year to 80,242 units, production outside Japan increased 10.0% year-on-year to 323,275 units, the 15th consecutive month of increase and a record for the month of July.

Production hit record levels in the US and Mexico. The US operations aw output increase 11.8% year-on-year to 64,034 units, and in Mexico, production increased 1.3% year-on-year to 59,360 units.

Meanwhile, in the UK, production increased 39.6% year-on-year to 36,108 units; In Spain, production increased 31.2% year-on-year to 11,520 units; and in China, production increased 5.6% year-on-year to 84,846 units.

In India, Nissan produced a total of 15,054 cars, up 5.54% year on year. Sales in July were 6,418 units, up 125% year on year.

Flat sales

Global sales decreased 0.3% year-on-year to 431,593 units. In Japan, sales including mini-vehicles decreased 21.5% year-on-year to 40,079 units. Sales outside Japan increased 2.5% year-on-year to 391,514 units, the second consecutive month of increase and a record for the month of July.

Record highs for July were registered in the US, Mexico and Europe. In the US, sales increased 1.2% year-on-year to 132,475 units; In Mexico, sales grew 16.4% year-on-year to 33,387 units; and in Europe, they rose 1.0% year-on-year to 57,353 units. In China, sales increased 8.9% year-on-year to 91,740 units.

Exports

Nissan’s exports from Japan in July increased 13.0% year-on-year to 54,291 units, the third consecutive month of increase.
