Luxury carmakers the most favoured employers among German students: Study

As per a recent study by research institute Trendence, BMW, Audi, Mercedes-Benz and Porsche are the most favoured employers for engineering and business students in Germany.

The emissions scandal ‘Dieselgate’ is affected the image of the car industry. Nevertheless, due to their big headstart in the rankings, the automobile sector is still the number one industry for graduates beginning their first job. The top three employers among German engineers are still Audi followed by BMW and Porsche. BMW is number one among German business students followed by Audi on rank 2. Daimler/Mercedes-Benz was able to improve from rank 5 in the previous year to rank 3. Despite the downward trend in popularity of the car industry, Daimler/Mercedes-Benz could still win the favor of both business and engineering students. It is followed by another automotive solutions provider – Bosch Group. Volkswagen suffered the largest loss in this year’s rankings.

“We regard these results as important affirmation,” stated Stephan Meier, head of International and Top Management Human Resources at Audi. “Young development engineers appreciate that we are rethinking the mobility of the future and are creatively disrupting the automotive world. At Audi, we encourage open discussion and deliberately place even more focus on the topics of trust and respect.”
