Land Rover’s six millionth vehicle is on display at the Shanghai Motor Show, after rolling off the production line at the firm’s Solihull facility earlier this month.
The landmark Range Rover LWB Vogue SE finished in ‘Yulong White’ was completed on April 2. It has been fitted with a bespoke puddle lamp graphic, with the one-off motif replacing the standard Range Rover’s silhouette that is projected by the car’s puddle lamps.
It's created by an inscribed lens fitted within the door mirror-mounted downlight. The illuminated graphic, which is initially the width of a grain of rice, is projected through a magnifying lens onto the ground each time the vehicle is unlocked. The projected image measures 80cm in diameter.
The six millionth Land Rover will feature in a number of celebratory events being staged in China, as this year also marks the 45th anniversary of Range Rover production for the firm. More than 900,000 vehicles of the six million produced by Land Rover have been Range Rovers.
Jaguar Land Rover Group sales operations director Andy Goss said: “It’s fitting that the six millionth Land Rover to be produced is a Range Rover, since this year marks the 45th anniversary of the original Range Rover’s launch and even today, the vehicle remains peerless.
“With the growth of sales in China since the latest version of the Range Rover was introduced in 2012, it is entirely appropriate that this landmark vehicle is destined for a Chinese customer."
