Hyundai Motor Company is participating in the Japan-Korea Parliamentarians' Federation's visit to Japan held in Tokyo and Kawasaki, Japan for three days on February 10-12 to build a hydrogen cooperation network in Japan and revitalize exchanges.

At the hydrogen energy exchange ceremony held at the 1st House of Representatives Hall in Tokyo on February 10, the lawmakers of the two countries decided to actively promote parliamentary support so that South Korea and Japan can lead cooperation in building a global hydrogen society.

The lawmakers of South Korea and Japan will concretize bilateral cooperation on:
Unification of clean hydrogen certification standards,
- Leading the standardization of hydrogen charging technology,
- Compatibility of hydrogen-related product certifications between the two countries, and
- Joint development of hydrogen production technology.

This three-day event is promoted by the lawmakers of the Korea-Japan-Korea Parliamentary Federation, who recognize that hydrogen is a necessary solution and an essential strategy for realizing a sustainable carbon-neutral society, and that individual countries' efforts alone are limited in order to successfully build a hydrogen society.

Hyundai believes that Korea and Japan will establish an organic hydrogen cooperation system through this congressional event, which will accelerate the establishment of a hydrogen industry ecosystem and the expansion of the hydrogen market at the global level as well as in both countries.

The Korean automaker will also develop and establish international standards for hydrogen technology, demonstrate hydrogen production technologies such as ammonia cracking (decomposition of ammonia to extract hydrogen), and introduce competitive hydrogen-related parts.

The three-day visit will see participants visit the Tokyo Tower hydrogen refuelling station, a hydrogen energy exchange ceremony of the Japan-Korea Parliamentarians' Federation, a hydrogen meeting at Kawasaki City Hall, a tour of the hydrogen facilities of Chiyoda Chemical Engineering & Construction, and an inspection of the liquid hydrogen terminal at Kobe Port.

According to Hyundai Motor Company, Korea and Japan are countries with the world's best hydrogen technology, and that it hopes that the event will serve as a springboard for the two countries to maximize mutual synergy.
