Honda Vietnam opens piston workshop, rolls out 15 millionth bike
Honda Vietnam has held the opening ceremony to put its new piston workshop, the first in Vietnam, into operation.
Honda Vietnam has held the opening ceremony to put its new piston workshop, the first in Vietnam, into operation. This is with a view to improve the localization level to develop new products at a competitive price.
The piston production workshop is spread across over 3,000 square metres in the campus of the Honda Vietnam factory and is designed with a maximum capacity of 2.4 million details/ year. It will go into official operation from April 1, 2014.
Together with the casting workshop for engine details whose capacity is 2 million sets/ year, the sintering workshop has a capacity of up to 2.3 million products/ year and spare part centre.

Meanwhile, a few days ago, Honda Vietnam, which produced its first motorcycle in 1997, rolled out its 15th millionth motorcycle. The fifth millionth bike was manufactured in July 2008 while the 10 millionth bike rolled out in September 2011. The 15 millionth product is an Air Blade motorcycle which is the leading model in the Vietnamese market and has cumulatively sold over 2 million units.
Honda Vietnam is looking to augments its exports and turn into an export hub. In 2013, the company exported to foreign 40,000 units; the target for 2014 is 100,000 units.
