Genesis’ six-car lineup revealed
Genesis will start with the G90 before smaller G80 and G70 saloons arrive later this year. A mid-sized luxury SUV is then due sometime around 2017 and 2018, ahead of a smaller SUV and sports coupé model.
A six-car lineup of Hyundai’s new luxury car brand – Genesis – has been revealed by The Korean Car Blog.
The company had earlier announced plans to feature a six-model lineup by the year 2020 at the time of the reveal of the Mercedes S-class-rivalling G90/EQ900 limousine.
As per the road map, Genesis will start with the G90 before smaller G80 and G70 saloons arrive later this year. The smaller G70 luxury sedan will rival the likes of the new Audi A4, Mercedes C-class and BMW 3-series. The upcoming sedan was previewed by the Genesis New York concept which was revealed at the New York Auto Show 2016.
The image also confirms that a mid-sized luxury SUV is then due sometime around 2017 and 2018, ahead of a smaller SUV and sports coupé model.
The two SUVs are expected to be roughly the same size as the Hyundai Santa Fe and Tucson, respectively, with the former to be the first to be revealed. The coupé is expected to make its debut around the same time as the Tucson-sized SUV.
In India, Hyundai had showcased the Genesis sedan at the 2014 Autocar Performance show and again this year, at the Auto Expo. The Genesis brand is expected to make its India launch in the coming years.
