Faurecia to supply PSA with textured bumpers with colour options

Faurecia has successfully industrialised a new textured paint finish at its Marines plant, France, to provide PSA with two innovative colours for its Peugeot 208 – Ice Grey and Ice Silver. PSA is the first car manufacturer to offer this textured finish in a production vehicle.
This paint, subtly grained with small particles of silica, required development work to integrate into existing manufacturing lines. Teams in Audincourt’s R&D centre worked on their specific development painting line to adapt the processes and the equipment, in particular how to prevent the silica grains blocking machine parts.
In September 2014 the first parts were successfully produced at Audincourt. Then the process was industrialised at Marines in order to manufacture the first production series.
