Automotive supplier Faurecia has received the ‘2014 Innovation’ award in the Green category awarded by the European Association of Automotive Suppliers (CLEPA).
Awarded by a jury including business leaders from automotive suppliers and heads of national associations, the distinction is given in recognition of the most outstanding technologies and achievements in environmental performance.
Faurecia overcame competition from a number of other leading companies to win the award with its NAFILean technology, which provides a method of injection molding able to create lightweight parts using natural fibres.
Faurecia's NAFILean is the only injected material with natural fibres in the automotive interiors market and features in the door panels of the production-spec Peugeot 308. Combining natural hemp-based fibres and a polypropylene resin, NAFILean allows for a range of complex architectures and shapes while enabling significant weight savings.
