Dainese, an Italian company known for manufacturing protective clothing for sports such as motorcycling and mountain biking, has signed a partnership with Peugeot Scooters to strengthen the safety related aspects associated with the motorcycles and scooters.

Dainese has developed a new airbag technology for Peugeot Scooters. It is fitted in the 3-wheeled Peugeot scooter, Metropolis. The two brands will display a Metropolis D-air on the Peugeot stand at the EICMA show in Milan (November 4 to 7). The model features an aftermarket D-air Street equipment, which is Dainese’s state-of-the art airbag technology designed for the safety of motorbike and scooter riders.

According to the company release, Dainese’s wireless D-air Street bag system operates within 45 milliseconds, thanks to an algorithm that identifies and recognises potential accident situations. The said system has passed the strict certification tests set by TUV Sud, the German certification body and has also obtained five stars from the French certification body SRA (SécuritéetRéparation Automobile).

Eric Mougin, marketing and style director for Peugeot Scooters said “I am very glad to announce at ECIMA 2014 the launch of the partnership between Dainese and Peugeot Scooter. The two brands are enhancing common values and are sharing similar positioning in term of excellence and high-end technology. Peugeot Metropolis D-air is the perfect combination to answer to the high expectations of our premium customers regarding safety.”

“We are delighted with this collaboration with Peugeot Scooters that has come to fruition at the EICMA event. Both the companies are extremely aware of issues regarding safety. For us, this is the first step in an even broader partnership with Peugeot Scooters, which are known for being the class leaders in the European market,” added Stefano Grasselli, Sales Director for the Dainese D-air product line.
