Chevrolet Sales Thailand today unveiled the face-lifted Trailblazer SUV and Colorado Extreme Pickup at the 37th Bangkok International Motor Show.

The two show vehicles hint at a new design direction for the automaker’s popular pickup truck and SUV in the Thai market. GM Thailand and Chevrolet Sales Thailand managing director Marcos Purty said, “These show vehicles were created to inject excitement and passion into the critical pickup truck and SUV segments, and reinforce Chevrolet’s commitment to the Thai market.”

Vanchana Unakul, general director of engineering for GM Thailand and Southeast Asia, added: “The two vehicles have the same platform but completely different personalities. The show trucks are an exploration into the platform’s significant potential and versatility.”

The 2016 Trailblazer gets major changes to its front in the form of all-new bonnet, restyled headlamps, a more upright grille with prominent Chevy bowtie logo taking centre stage and front bumper with prominent slots for round fog lamps. There are subtle touches of chrome across the grille and front bumper. While the side profile remains nearly the same as the current model, the new Trailblazer will get new-design alloy wheels.  The 2016 Trailblazer’s rear styling remains similar to the current model however the tail-lamps do get new inserts along with a mildly tweaked bumper. Inside, the Trailblazer gets the updated infotainment system which now supports Apple CarPlay.

Powering the facelifted Trailblazer is the same 197bhp, 2.8-litre Duramax turbocharged diesel motor available on the SUV for India. Foreign markets receive a more powerful 275bhp, 3.6-litre V6 petrol engine. In addition to this, a 200bhp, 2.5-litre EcoTec petrol engine will be offered in select markets.

The updated Trailblazer will go on sale in its home market, Thailand later this year. Given that the SUV was launched in India only recently, it is safe to assume that the facelift won’t make it to our shores until next year.
