BASF is sole paint supplier for Chery’s new car factory in Brazil
BASF Coatings has become the sole supplier of automotive coatings for the new plant of the Chinese automaker Chery in Jacarei, Brazil, which opened in August this year.
BASF Coatings has become the sole supplier of automotive coatings for the new plant of the Chinese automaker Chery in Jacarei, Brazil, which opened in August this year. BASF will deliver the colours red, white, black, silver and gray. Not only metal, but also plastic parts are painted with the technology from BASF. The supply agreement includes not only water-based paints and the cathodic dip coating CathoGuard 800.
Cathodic electrodeposition (CED) is the first layer in the paint structure. CathoGuard 800 is an alternative to conventional coating materials, in which tin is used often. In addition CathoGuard has 800 very low solvent content and saved by its high efficiency material. "The technology provided by their depth is also a particularly high corrosion protection," says Fabian Garcia, key account manager for Automotive Coatings at BASF in Brazil.
Earlier this year, has invested euros 2.5 million (Rs 19.53 crore) in the expansion of its Coatings site in Demarchi in the Brazilian state of São Paulo BASF. Thus, the company increased its production capacity for water-based paints used the Brazilian automotive industry is supplied. Water-based paints dispense almost entirely to organic solvents. This reduces the emissions of volatile organic compounds (VOCs), without compromising the quality of the paint or tone will be affected.
