Messe Frankfurt, the organizer of the Automechanika trade fair series, has said that in view of the current political situation in the Ukraine, the première of Automechanika Kiev planned for June 9-11 this year has been cancelled.
According to Automechanika Brand Manager, Michael Johannes, “We have now made two attempts to enable our customers from the automotive aftermarket to do business in the Ukraine. Nevertheless, given the situation prevailing there at present, it is impossible to hold the fair at this time.”
The plans for the new Automechanika called for it to have been organised by Independent Expo Ukraine, the partner of Independent Expo Automotive BV from the Netherlands and official licensee of Automechanika Kiev. Berco Stukje, managing director, Independent Expo Automotive BV, said: “We are very sorry to have to remove Automechanika Kiev, which should have opened its doors in four months, from the programme. However, the interests of the exhibitors are of paramount importance to both Messe Frankfurt and Independent Expo.”
As per the Automechanika annual calendar, there are a total of 13 events in 12 countries. These include the Automechanika Frankfurt, the biggest of them all; Automechanika Shanghai is the world’s second biggest Automechanika after Frankfurt; Automechanika Dubai, ACMA Automechanika New Delhi, Automechanika Chicago, Automechanika St. Petersburg, Automechanika Istanbul, Motortec Automechanika Madrid, Automechanika Johannesburg, Automechanika Kuala Lumpur, Automechanika Buenos Aires and PAACE Automechanika Mexico City.
