Audi achieves new sales record for Q1, 2014
Audi’s worldwide sales have surged to 412,850 units, up 11.7 percent year on year, during the first quarter of 2014, helped by a 21.1 percent increase in sales in China, according to new figures released by the German carmaker.
Audi’s worldwide sales have surged to 412,850 units, up 11.7 percent year on year, during the first quarter of 2014, helped by a 21.1 percent increase in sales in China, according to new figures released by the German carmaker. This is the first time that Audi has exceeded sales of 400,000 vehicles in the first quarter.
The result marks a new quarterly sales record for Audi, which has now enjoyed 51 consecutive months of sales growth. Audi’s worldwide sales through to the end of March were up by 11.7 percent over the same period in 2013. Among the markets recording the biggest increases in volume were China, which saw an increase of 21.1 percent (124,520 units), Germany, which was up by 12.4 percent (66,458 units), and the UK, up 11.3 percent (43,671 units).
In India, Audi sold 2,740 units in Q1 2014, a 4.7 percent YoY increase (January-March 2013: 2,616).
“In March we achieved a double best figure, completing the most successful first quarter in our company history with the strongest sales month ever,” said Luca de Meo, Member of the Board of Management for Sales at Audi AG. “With new models like the A3 Sedan, the internationalisation of our business is gaining momentum. In the first quarter we achieved substantial growth in all regions around the world and grew more strongly than the market in Europe.”
