June 27, 2013: As the strike at Bajaj Auto’s Chakan plant enters its second day, this would have a definite effect on the production of the Pulsar range of motorcycles which rolls out exclusively from this plant.
Rajiv Bajaj, managing director, has been quoted as saying that operations have been partially restored and that daily production may drop by between 1,000 to 2,000 units.
Interestingly, the strike began on 25 June when Bajaj Auto launched its KTM 390 Duke, its second offering from the KTM stable.
The Pulsar, Bajaj’s flagship brand, has six variants which include the entry-level DTS-i and the top-of-the-line 200 NS.
Component manufacturers to the two-wheeler major are concerned and hope the situation will improve. The strike is about the issue of equity shares for the company’s employees, media reports have suggested.
