Polaris India bags Gujarat Police order for RZR S800 ATVs
The Gujarat government has chosen the RZR S800 model which is designed to tackle off-road terrain.
New Delhi, July 9, 2013: Polaris India, a wholly owned subsidiary of Polaris Industries Inc, which markets off-road and All-Terrain Vehicles (ATVs), has bagged its first commercial order in India from Gujarat Police.
The Gujarat government has chosen the RZR S800 model which is designed to tackle off-road terrain. The RZR S800 has a 760cc twin-cylinder engine that develops 54bhp. The scope of the order includes on- and off-site training, maintenance and aftersales support. The vehicle will help the Gujarat Police in areas like routine patrol in inaccessible terrain, coastal patrol and vigilance, rapid pursuit operations and maintaining vigil around sensitive and hi-security zones.
Speaking on the development, Pankaj Dubey, MD, Polaris India, said, “ATVs are utilised by police forces worldwide and this is for the first time our ATVs will be used by the police in India. Our vehicles are sturdy, reliable and effective over the toughest of terrains. Polaris has demonstrated various ATVs to the defence, police and paramilitary forces.”
Polaris India launched its product range including ATVs, Ranger RZR, Side X Side Vehicles and snowmobiles in India on August 24, 2011. At present, it has a network of 25 outlets and 14 Experience Zones across the country. The dealerships are equipped with a workshop for service. The company also has a full-fledged warehouse and technical training centre with spare parts in Delhi/ NCR.
