Opulent Auto Care inks pact with HM
Opulent Auto Care of Pune has entered into an alliance with Hindustan Motors (HM) to provide Mitsubishi cars with high-quality vehicle care products to combat corrosion, solar radiation and climatic damage.

The three-year aftersales contract is valued at Rs 4 crore and will be executed in three phases. Opulent products (Waxoyl and Huper Optik) offer longevity; its solar control window films cut 99 percent of UV rays, 70 percent solar energy and are 100 percent dye- and metal-free.

Under the terms of the contract, Opulent will treat around 7,000 cars annually for the Mitsubishi brand; the products will be available also at authorised workshops. HM will, for the Mitsubishi brand, initiate a nation-wide programme with its dealers to use these products as part of their aftersales programmes.

The first phase of project implementation is to commence with South India and move on to West and North East India in the second phase. The third phase will cover all Tier 3 cities in the country. This contract is expected to increase Opulent’s turnover by 25 percent from its present level of Rs 11 crore.

Smart growth

S Sathyaprakash, managing director, Opulent Auto Care, says: “Opulent has witnessed a significant growth over the last six years, with increased awareness for high-quality vehicle care, particularly in the aftersales phase. The Mitsubishi tie-up is a prestigious deal for us where we shall partner with HM to enhance and maintain vehicles with our car care products. This will be particularly beneficial in coastal areas like Chennai where a corrosive sea wind combines with extremely hot clime to affect vehicle durability significantly. Our treatment will protect the vehicle from corrosion and visual damage. Opulent’s dealers across 65 cities will partner with the Mitsubishi dealer network.”

Talking about the tie-up, YVS Vijay Kumar, executive vice-president, HM, Mitsubishi division, observes: “The market for car care products and treatment is highly unorganised. This move of ours to associate with a world leader will help us stay ahead in offering a genuine value proposition to the customers.”

Waxoyl range

The company benefits from its association with Waxoyl AG of Switzerland, which has patented breakthrough technologies in car care and corrosion protection. The Waxoyl products include Professional 120-4 Cavity Protection spray that penetrates the smallest of cavities to protect against corrosion; Hardwax Underbody Protector which is a wax-based undercoat to protect the underbody against corrsion, stone and gravel; and Engine Protector that repels water and keeps away dirt and grime.

There are also the Huper Optik products which employ nano-deposition technology wherein dual layers of ceramic thin film are coated to form a high performance heat and glare barrier. This exclusive technology introduces the window film industry to the world’s first and only nano-ceramic film. All the products are developed to withstand the harsh climatic conditions in India.

With the burgeoning car population in recent years and owners keen to maintain their vehicles, Opulent, which has targeted a turnover of Rs 50 crore by 2010, has seen a five-fold increase in demand for its products and services. The automobile servicing segment continues to see good demand from car owners and has recently seen a host of new entrants, including automobile majors.
