Bengaluru-based electric scooter start-up River Mobility is witnessing strong sales traction for its sole product, the River Indie. A little less than three years after the company entered the Indian e-2W market, it has registered its highest monthly retails of 4,436 units in June 2026.
As a result of its much-improved sales numbers, River Mobility is now a regular in the monthly Top 10 e-2W OEM list and has also improved its ranking this year. Ranked No. 8 in January, February, and March amongst 175 players, River Mobility has risen to No. 7 in April, May, and June 2026.
The 23,722 River Indies delivered this year are 54% of the 43,805 units sold since October 2023. June's 4,436 units have beaten the previous monthly best of 4,273 units in March 2026.
As the Vahan-sourced retail sales data table above depicts, last month's sales have enabled River Mobility to surpass cumulative sales of 40,000 units. While the numbers in the first two years were tepid, the company delivered 17,020 Indies to customers in CY2025, enabling the company to be ranked No. 9 last year.
In CY2026, sales hit a high note from January itself. While Q1 (January–March 2026) sales of 9,607 units rose 62% over Q4 2025, Q2 (April–June 2026) sales, at 11,776 units, were up 23%. In the first 12 days of July, 2,176 new buyers have taken to the road on a River Indie. Given the current pace of demand, it can be surmised that River Mobility is well on track to achieve the 50,000 Indie sales milestone for the first time in CY2026.
What is noteworthy about the River Indie's sales is that demand is growing month on month for the premium e-scooter, which is priced at Rs 152,000 (ex-showroom) and rivalling the top-end variants of the TVS iQube, Bajaj Chetak, and Ather Rizta. The single-variant Indie has a company-claimed battery range of 160 km, making it ideal for city commutes and short weekend rides. As per Autocar India, the Indie is an impressive electric scooter—a large, spacious, and comfortable machine that focuses on maximising utility rather than frilly features. Its 43-litre underseat storage is the largest on an electric scooter at present and can swallow a lot of daily essentials like groceries, a backpack, a large helmet, while also having space for the charger.
River Mobility, which rolls out the Indie as well as the Yamaha EC-06 (under its partnership with Yamaha Motor Co.) from its plant in Hoskote, Karnataka, has ample manufacturing capacity of 120,000 units per annum. Given the strong growth momentum, it is understood that the EV startup is exploring the setting up of a new plant ahead of the rollout of two new models slated for the first quarter of CY2027.
