The Maruti Grand Victoris midsize SUV, which was officially launched on September 3 with sales commencing 19 days later, has raced past the 50,000-unit sales mark in a scant five months. Cumulative sales till end-January 2026 are 51,528 units. It is understood that the Victoris has 70,000 bookings, of which 35,000 units have already been delivered to customers.
The Victoris, which clocked its highest monthly wholesales (factory dispatches) of 15,240 units in January 2026, was ranked India’s 10th best-selling passenger vehicle and sixth among SUVs last month. The model accounted for 20% of Maruti Suzuki India’s utility vehicle sales of 75,609 units in January 2026, and was the third best-selling UV for the company after the Ertiga MPV (17,892 units) and the Vitara Brezza compact SUV (17,486 units). Underscoring the Victoris’ status as a key growth driver for the passenger vehicle and UV market leader is the model’s 8% share of the 616,875 UVs that Maruti Suzuki has sold in the current fiscal. And that share has come about in only five of the last 10 months of FY2026.
In January 2026, the Victoris with 15,240 units accounted for 20% of Maruti Suzuki’s UV sales of 75,609 units. It was also the sixth best-selling SUV and the 10th highest-selling PV in India.
The Maruti Victoris though is not the fastest to the 50,000-unit mark in the midsize SUV market. That accolade belongs to the facelifted Hyundai Creta which took just three months to hit 50,000 sales after launch in January 2024. While the Kia Seltos launched in August 2019 took a similar five months, the Victoris’ other rival and donor model Maruti Grand Vitara took seven months after its September 2022 launch and the Maruti-rebadged Toyota Hyryder took 15 months to hit 50,000 wholesales.
Sold through the company’s mass-market Arena channel, the Maruti Victoris has all of 21 variants on offer across six trim levels: LXi, VXi, ZXi, ZXi (O), ZXi+ and ZXi+ (O). Pricing starts from Rs 10.50 lakh for the base LXI MT variant to Rs 19.99 lakh (ex-showroom) for the top-end ZXi Plus (O) Strong Hybrid CVT variant.
The Victoris comes with a range of powertrain options: a 1.5-litre mild-hybrid petrol, a 1.5-litre CNG, and a 1.5-litre strong hybrid. Depending on the model, the mileage ranges between 19.07 kilometres per litre (kpl) to an ARAI-claimed 28.65kpl for the strong hybrid. While the Victoris hybrid is more fuel efficient than the Toyota Hyryder and Grand Vitara hybrids, the Victoris petrol is also more frugal than the Hyryder and Grand Vitara.
There are a number of reasons why buyers are flocking to the Victoris even though it does not have the punchy diesel or turbo-petrol engines of some rivals. This Maruti midsize SUV’s efficient powertrains, feature-packed interior, strong safety credentials in the form of Level 2 ADAS and a five-star Bharat NCAP rating, along with good ride and handling make it a compelling choice. Add Maruti Suzuki’s widespread service network, and the Victoris comes across as a solid family-oriented SUV that competes strongly with the segment leader, the Hyundai Creta.
On January 19, Maruti Suzuki shipped 450 units of the Victoris, rebadged as the ‘Across’ from the Mundra and Pipavav ports for global markets.
The Victoris, which is rebadged as ‘Across’ for global markets, is also expected to play a key role in Maruti Suzuki’s export programme. Over 550 units have been exported till date including the 94 units till end-December 2025. On January 19, Maruti Suzuki shipped 450 units from the Mundra and Pipavav ports for global markets. While the aim is to export the Victoris to over 100 countries, the key regions for export include Latin America, Middle East and Africa.
In the first nine months of FY2026, Maruti Suzuki has exported 308,237 passenger vehicles comprising 153,023 utility vehicles (up 29% YoY), 126,546 cars (up 23%) and 6,092 vans (up 23% YoY). Considering FY2025 (330,081 PVs) delivered Maruti Suzuki’s highest exports in a fiscal, the PV export market leader could surpass the 400,000-unit mark for the first time in FY2026 with the Victoris and the e-Vitara (with over 13,000 units exported since September 2025) adding new made-in-India verve.
