Little Impact of China's Rare Earth Blockage in June e2Wheeler Sales
India’s electric two-wheeler market continued to go from strength to strength in June 2025, even notching up a 32% yoy jump and 5% month-on-month growth.
India’s electric two-wheeler market continued its upward trajectory in June 2025, registering sales of 1,05,355 units. This marks a 31.69% year-on-year increase over the 80,003 units sold in June 2024, according to the latest data from the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA). The market share for electric two-wheelers climbed to 7.3% in June 2025, compared to 5.8% in the same month last year and 6.1% in May 2025.
The month-on-month growth stood at 4.99%, up from 1,00,345 units sold in May 2025. The overall trend points to steady consumer demand and growing adoption of electric mobility in the two-wheeler segment.
Established Players
TVS Motor Company retained its leadership in the segment, selling 25,300 units in June 2025. The company reported 80.34% growth compared to June 2024, and a 2.96% rise over May 2025. Bajaj Auto followed closely with 23,032 units sold, witnessing a sharp 154.47% increase year-on-year and a 5.59% increase month-on-month. These two legacy manufacturers continue to strengthen their foothold through expanding dealership networks, targeted EV offerings, and improved supply chains.
Ola Electric Technologies, which had previously held the top position, dropped to third place with 20,190 units sold. The company saw a significant 45.22% decline compared to June 2024 but recorded a 9.13% growth over the previous month, indicating a potential recovery. Ola's fluctuating performance is being closely watched, as it reflects the impact of policy adjustments and shifting consumer sentiment in the premium e-scooter segment.
Mid-Tier Brands
Ather Energy continued its growth streak, reporting 14,526 units sold in June 2025 — a 133.69% increase year-on-year and a 12.99% jump over May 2025. The Bengaluru-based manufacturer has been steadily improving its retail reach and product offerings, which is reflected in its consistent sales growth.
Hero MotoCorp, operating under the Vida brand, sold 7,668 units and saw a 148.88% year-on-year rise. Its 7.02% month-on-month growth suggests that the company is beginning to establish a stronger presence in the EV segment after a relatively slow start.
Emerging Players
Among the smaller OEMs, River Mobility and PUR Energy stood out with steep growth curves.
Premium EV maker River Mobility, backed byYamaha India, sold 1,246 units, marking a 523% year-on-year increase and a 31.43% rise over the previous month. PUR Energy delivered 1,429 units, up by 321.53% year-on-year and 12.52% month-on-month.
BGauss Auto also posted strong figures with 1,952 units, growing 83.80% year-on-year and 83.11% month-on-month.
Meanwhile, Greaves Electric Mobility, one of the oldest players in the segment, recorded 4,199 units, maintaining moderate but stable growth with a 54.60% increase over June 2024 and a 0.50% rise over May 2025.
The electric two-wheeler segment is witnessing broad-based growth, with both established and emerging players contributing to rising volumes. The increase in market share reflects deeper market penetration and growing consumer acceptance. While leading OEMs continue to anchor the segment, the rise of new entrants signals expanding competitiveness and product diversity. Policy support, infrastructure improvements, and price parity with ICE counterparts are likely to further drive momentum in the coming months.
