While it has sold 2,077 units from July 2024 till July 9, 2025, the recent surge has come in the first half of this year, most of them for the Rorr EZ. And it is planning rapid network expansion from the current 37 showrooms to 150 by end-FY2026.

Exactly two years after the Bengaluru-based EV start-up Oben Electric delivered its first batch of electric motorcycles on July 10, 2023, the company has surpassed cumulative retail sales of 2,000 units. As per Vahan sales numbers, Oben Electric has sold 2,077 units, comprising 634 units in CY2024 and 1,443 units between January 1 and July 9, 2025.
Founded by IIT Kharagpur and IIM Bangalore alumni, Oben Electric set out to tap the market for affordable, stylish, performance-oriented as well as efficient electric motorcycles in an electric two-wheeler market dominated by a raft of electric scooter OEMs. The overarching goal is to draw ICE motorcycle buyers from the 100-150cc bike segments, which together accounted for 81% of the total 1,22,52,305 ICE motorcycles sold in FY2025.
Oben Electric entered the market with the Rorr, powered by a 10 kW IPMSM in-house-developed motor and 4.4 kWh battery and a claimed 0-40kph acceleration in 3 seconds, 100kph top speed and a range of 187km on a single charge. The Oben Rorr, targeted at the 150cc-petrol engine motorcycle segment, had received around 20,000 pre-bookings. The company’s monthly sales graph improved with the launch of its second product – the Rozz EZ.
Launched on November 7, 2024, the Rorr EZ comes with three battery options – 2.6 kWh, 3.4 kWh and 4.4 kWh – which employ high-performance LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate) battery technology that enables 50% greater heat resistance and increased battery lifespan. The Rorr EZ has three riding modes – Eco, City, and Havoc – allowing riders to tailor the ride for optimal battery life or peak performance.
The Oben Rorr EZ has an IDC-certified range of up to 175km, accelerates from 0-40kph in 3.3 seconds, and has a top speed of 95kph. With 80% charging achievable in 45 minutes, the Rorr EZ is targeted at the urban commuter keen on zero-emission mobility. The Rorr EZ’s current starting price is Rs 99,999 (ex-showroom).
Targeting young urban India, rapid network expansion underway
In a strategic move, in February this year, Oben Electric launched the ‘Rorr on Campus’ which aims to young India into electric mobility through hands-on experiences, expert interactions, and immersive engagements. Spanning 10 leading colleges in Delhi and Jaipur, the campaign offers students an opportunity to explore Rorr EZ up close, understand key aspects like range, charging infrastructure, and performance, and make informed decisions about adopting EVs. Through this initiative, Oben expects to engage over 100,000 collegians, some of whom could become Rorr owners including a growing number of female riders. Oben Electric plans to expand the ‘Rorr on Campus’ initiative to major colleges across other cities, making this an ongoing effort to educate and inspire the next generation of EV adopters.
One of the reasons for Oben Electric’s recent sales growth is that it is expanding its sales and service network. At present, it has 37 showrooms across India with a footprint in South India – Karnataka (Bengaluru and Hubli), Kerala (Kochi, Trivandrum, Thrissur), North India – Delhi, Gurugram, Lucknow, West India – Pune, Ahmedabad. The strategy is now to expand to eastern India (Ranchi and Kolkata) even as it plans to set up new stores in Mumbai, Chandigarh, Surat and Bhopal.
The showrooms including those in Tier 1, 2 and 4 cities are supported by a dedicated Oben Care service centre, providing integrated aftersales service including pick-up and drop services. Oben aims to expand its presence to over 150 showrooms across 50-plus cities with respective dedicated service centres by the end of FY2026, to Tier 1, 2, and 3 cities across India.

Growing competition in Inda’s electric motorcycle market
Compared to a large number of e-scooter OEMs including legacy players like Bajaj Auto, TVS Motor Co, Hero MotoCorp, Honda and Suzuki and leading startups like Ola Electric and Ather Energy, Oben is among the few e-motorcycle OEMs – Revolt Motors, Ultraviolette, Ola, KLB Komaki, Matter Motor Works, Okaya EV, Orxa Energies and Wardwizard Innovations – currently present in India. Of this lot, Revolt, which has been in the market since 2019, is the only one closing in on sales of 1,000-plus e-motorcycles each month and has sold 5,500 e-motorcycles in the first six months of CY2025.
Oben Electric, whose highest monthly sales were in April 2025 (314 units), also has that target of 1,000 Rorr sales a month in its crosshairs. With the planned network expansion underway, and growing demand for the two Rorr e-motorcycles, it remains to be seen just when this monthly target will be achieved.
