Motorcycle sales down 9% in Q1 FY2026, 7 of 10 bikemakers impacted

After a strong FY2025 which saw wholesales of 12.25 million motorcycles and 5% growth, April-June 2025 factory dispatches of 2.90 million bikes are a sharp 9% YoY decline. This points to both OEM inventory correction as well as a fall in demand for fuel-sipping entry-level commuter bikes which has impacted the top three players – Hero MotoCorp, Honda and Bajaj Auto.
