JSW MG Motor India sold 6,578 units in August 2025, marking a 52% year-on-year increase from 4,323 units in August 2024 and achieving its highest monthly delivery performance of the year. The August sales reflect the company's momentum as India enters the festive season, typically a period when automotive purchases increase.
The growth comes as the company's Windsor electric vehicle has established itself as India's best-selling EV, with 19,394 units sold in FY2025 since its launch in September 2024. The model secured its position as the nation's top-selling EV for ten consecutive months, with 4,308 units sold in July 2025 alone. Windsor's performance has allowed JSW MG Motor to challenge established players in the electric vehicle segment.
Market Share Gains
Almost 58% of JSW-MG India's volumes were contributed by EV models in FY2025, significantly higher than the overall market average where EV car sales contribution was 2.7% in FY2025. This concentration on electric vehicles has helped JSW MG Motor capture 31 per cent retail market share in the EV segment as of March 2025, trailing only Tata Motors, which holds a 38 per cent share.
The Windsor's rise represents a shift in India's electric vehicle landscape. Before Windsor's launch, Tata Motors dominated the electric passenger vehicle segment with models like the Nexon EV.
The Comet, JSW MG Motor's compact urban EV, achieved 21% month-on-month growth in August, marking its strongest wholesale performance of 2025. The model sold 10,149 units in FY2025, making it the fifth top-selling electric car in India. Both the Windsor and Comet contributed to JSW MG Motor's strategy of targeting urban consumers.
Moreover, the company expanded its dealership network by three outlets in August alone, bringing its total to more than 543 sales and aftersales touchpoints across 270 cities, covering over 90% of India's geographical footprint.
JSW MG Motor has positioned service centers within a 15-kilometer radius to enable customer assistance within 30 minutes in most regions. This infrastructure development comes as the company prepares for increased demand during the festive season, which traditionally drives higher automobile sales across India.
