Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India’s February sales jump 86% YoY on low base

Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India saw its wholesale jump 86% on a year-on-year basis in February with strong growth numbers in domestic sales and exports. The growth figure can be attributed primarily to a low base in the comparable period.

The Japanese two-wheeler maker dispatched a total of 458,711 units in the month, compared with 247,195 units in the same month a year ago. Domestic sales surged 82% on year to 413,967 units while exports more than doubled to 44,744 units from 20,111 units in the year-ago period.

February has been a robust month for most of the two-wheeler makers with double-digit growth in domestic sales. The segment has shown gradual recovery in the last couple of months with green shoots seen in the rural economy. Overall segment growth in the domestic market during the current financial year is likely to be in the high single digits.
