Even as October draws to a close in two days, Hero MotoCorp has already registered its highest monthly retail sales and has also crossed cumulative year-to-date sales of 200,000 units for the first time in a calendar year.
In the first 29 days of this month, 27,435 Vida e-scooters have been delivered to customers, marking strong 66% YoY growth (October 2025: 16,499 units). This is the highest monthly retail sales for the Vida brand, beating the previous best in September 2026 (24,435 units).
On the CY2026 cumulative sales front, between January 1 and October 29, a total of 200,143 Vidas have been sold, which is 87,122 additional e-scooters sold compared to the 113,021 units sold in CY2025. These 200,143 Vida e-scooters give Hero MotoCorp an 11% share of the 1.77 million e-2Ws sold in India in this year to date.
In the year-ago period, the company had an 8% share of the 1.11 million e-2Ws delivered to EV buyers in India.
A look at the monthly sales data (above) reveals just how strong the growth trajectory has been for Hero Vida this year. Retail sales have risen quarter on quarter and Q4 bids fair to be the best quarter yet.
While Q1 CY2026 (January-March 2026) sales of 49,043 units were a massive 285% YoY increase (Q1 CY2025: 12,729 units), Q2 (April-June 2026) with 57,059 units made for 164% YoY growth (Q2 CY2025: 21,650 units) and a 16% QoQ growth.
Q3 (July-September 2026) outdid them both with 66,606 units, up 76% YoY (Q3 CY2025: 37,877 units) and 17% better than Q2 CY2026.
With strong sales tailwinds emanating from a growing number of ICE buyers transitioning to e-mobility due to the multiple price hikes in petrol in May 2026 as well as the ongoing festive season, it can be expected that Hero Vida will maintain the same strong growth trajectory it has displayed in Q3 CY2026. Estimate CY2026 numbers to be in the region of 250,000 to 260,000 units this year.
Another strategic sales driver for Hero Vida has been the introduction of the Battery As a Service (BaaS) ‘pay-as-you-go’ ownership model which significantly reduces the upfront ownership cost, making electric mobility more affordable and accessible to a wider customer base, and has since been adopted by Ather Energy and TVS Motor among a host of other EV OEMs.
Vida manufacturing capacity to be ramped up to 45,000 units a month
The continuing wave of demand for Vida e-scooters has seen Hero MotoCorp ramp up its manufacturing capacity at its plant in Chittoor, Andhra Pradesh. Speaking in an analyst call after the company released its Q2 FY2027 (July-September 2026) on October 29, Chief Executive Officer Harshavardhan Chitale said the company has doubled its e-2W monthly manufacturing capacity from 15,000 units at the end of FY2026 to 30,000 units in September 2026.
The company expects to further increase this to 45,000 units a month by Q4 FY2027 before undertaking another round of expansion.
Given the growing demand for the Vida brand, Hero MotoCorp continues to up the ante on three fronts – products, network and capacity. On July 31, the company expanded its EV line-up to five e-scooters with the VX2 Go FB (3.1 kWh), priced at Rs 113,000 (ex-showroom New Delhi) and a 128km range on a single charge.
The VX2 Go FB joins the VX2 Go (2.2 kWh), VX2 Go (3.4 kWh), VX2 Plus (3.4 kWh) and VX2 Plus (4.4 kWh).
The company, which opened its first Experience Centre in November 2022, currently has coverage across India with over 900 touchpoints spanning 475 cities and 778 dealers (as of September 2026). The network is to be expanded as the capacity is scaled up.
Hero MotoCorp enables Vida users to access charging at over 5,900 locations including the Ather Grid network owned by Ather Energy in which Hero MotoCorp is an early investor and currently has a 32.8% stake after a recent increase from the 29.88% stake it had in early August.
From a minuscule 1% share of the 901,796 e-2Ws sold in India in CY2023 to the 11% share in CY2026 YTD, it’s been a noteworthy run for the world’s largest two-wheeler company in the EV space. Hero Vida is now the firm No. 4 e-2W brand after TVS Motor Co, Bajaj Auto and Ather Energy and is ahead of Ola Electric and Greaves Electric Mobility.
