For the second month on the trot, Hero MotoCorp, the world’s largest two-wheeler manufacturer, has registered its best-ever electric scooter monthly sales. The company has delivered 13,313 Vida e-scooters to customers, which is a 26% month-on-month increase over the 10,537 EVs sold in July 2025. This is the second time that the company has surpassed the 10,000-unit monthly sales mark since it entered the electric two-wheeler industry in October 2022.
The August 2025 sales, which are an 180% year-on-year increase (July 2024: 4,759 units), enable Hero MotoCorp to achieve a 10%-plus market share for the second month in a row. In August, the company’s e-2W market share stands at its highest yet for a month: 13 percent. And it has moved up in the Top 10 e-2W rankings to No. 4, ahead of Bajaj Auto, and behind TVS Motor, Ola Electric, and Ather Energy.
The 13,313 units sold in August make this the best monthly score for Hero MotoCorp’s Vida brand since its market entry in October 2022.
The momentum for the current year was first provided by the Vida V2 launched in December 2024. The Vida V2 is available in three variants: Lite (Rs 74,000), Plus (Rs 92,800), and Pro (Rs 120,300). The most affordable of the lot – the V2 Lite – comes with a small 2.2kWh battery pack that has a claimed 94km IDC range.
The VX2 Plus and Go launched on July 1 with the BaaS option have powered sales in July and August 2025. Demand for the Vida brand took off with the V2, launched in December 2024 in three variants.
The accelerated growth in the past two months has come with the new Vida VX2 launched on July 1 at an e-2W-rival-worrying price of Rs 59,490 for the VX2 Go under the Battery-as-a-Service option (and Rs 99,440 without BaaS), and the VX2 Plus at Rs 64,990 with BaaS and Rs 109,990 without it. That’s a difference of Rs 40,000 and Rs 45,000 for the VX2 Go and Plus, respectively.
Eight days after the VX2's launch, on July 9, in a strategic move designed to draw buyers, Hero MotoCorp slashed prices – as per the company website, the VX2 Go now costs Rs 44,990 and the VX2 Plus Rs 57,990 with the BaaS option, which makes them among the most affordable e-scooters in India.
What differentiates the VX2 Go from the Plus is the removable battery capacity – while the Go has a single battery with 2.2kWh and 92km range, the Plus has two batteries with 3.4kWh, which deliver 142km range, similar to the Vida V2 Pro. The removable batteries can be charged directly inside the e-scooter or removed and charged indoors. The VX2 can also be juiced up at the 4,000-strong Ather Grid fast charging network across India.
The VX2’s electric motor develops the same 6kW peak power and 3.9kW continuous power and 25 Nm torque as its Vida V2 sibling. While the VX2 Plus goes from 0–40kph in 3.1 sec and has a top speed of 80kph, the Go variant accelerates from 0–40kph in 4.2 sec and has a top speed of 70kph.
CAN HERO MOTOCORP ACHIEVE 100,000 SALES IN CY2025?
As a result of the five-figure Vida sales for two consecutive months, cumulative eight-month retail sales at 57,250 units have already surpassed the CY2024 total of 43,709 units, when Hero MotoCorp had a 4% e-2W market share. At present, the Hero Vida e-scooters have a 7% share of the 813,893 e-2Ws sold in India between January and August 2025, as per Vahan data.
Given the current strong pace of monthly sales and four months to go for CY2025 to come to a close, it can be expected that Hero MotoCorp will get close to or even surpass the 100,000-unit annual sales milestone for the first time since it plugged into the e-2W industry in November 2022.
