Welspun BAPL targeting 5x-10x growth in next five years: Yashovardhan Agarwal

India’s auto industry is undergoing a major transformation, driven by premiumisation, localisation, and cutting-edge technology. Yashovardhan Agarwal, MD of Welspun BAPL, believes that there is a clear trend towards premiumised vehicles, reflecting evolving consumer preferences.

In this conversation at the recently-concluded Auto Expo 2025 - The Components Show - he says that India’s automotive design landscape is also maturing rapidly. "Our Indian design centre has become stronger than our counterparts," he adds.

Welspun BAPL sees opportunities in India’s fast-evolving market, particularly with the growing integration of localised design elements in vehicles. Speaking on Welspun BAPL’s acquisition of Syntax BPCL, Agarwal outlines the company’s strategy for exponential growth. “We are targeting 5 to 10 times growth in the next five to seven years."
