'Our R&D is focused on developing fuel-agnostic vehicles': Ganesh Mani

The commercial vehicle (CV) segment in India is one that sees diesel playing a predominant role in propelling the wheels of the sector, which is the bellwether of the economy.

For CV major Ashok Leyland, sustainable transportation is fuel-agnostic, and according to the company's Chief Operating Officer, Ganesh Mani, "We have taken several steps towards sustainable transportation. Most of our new technologies are not just in trial stages, but already in commercial application. For instance, our first hydrogen FCEV is running in Leh Ladakh at 11,000ft and our hydrogen-ICE vehicles are also in the pipeline."

"More than 2,000 of our electric buses and LCVs are also up and running across the country. As far as CNG and LNG are concerned, they are being used by our customers. So, we have been pioneers across all these categories," Mani points out in this video.
