Tata Motors which has recently aced the Global NCAP crash tests for its Harrier and Safari SUVs, which scored the highest-ever safety score for an Indian car, aims to make safety as the focal point of product portfolio.

Mohan Savarkar, Vice President, Product Line, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles talks about how the company is committed to safety and providing safe cars to Indian customers. All Tata Motors models currently on sale in the market have undergone crash safety evaluation by Global NCAP, and the company is optimistic about the growing awareness on safety in India.

Savarkar further says that safety awareness is spreading across the country, including Tier-2 and Tier-3 towns, as well as rural markets, and customers today are willing to pay extra to get safer vehicles for their families. Savarkar adds that Tata Motors does not believe attacking vehicle safety one piece at a time by taking measures like deploying six airbags when the vehicle load path is not clearly defined, and would rather ensure that safety is holistically engineered in its products.
