State-owned NHAI (National Highways Authority of India) had extended the 'One Vehicle, One FASTag' initiative compliance deadline to March end, given the problems that Paytm FASTag users were facing.
The National Highways Authority of India's 'One Vehicle, One FASTag' norm has come into effect from today, a senior official told PTI.
State-owned NHAI (National Highways Authority of India) had extended the 'One Vehicle, One FASTag' initiative compliance deadline to March end, given the problems that Paytm FASTag users were facing.
"People who have multiple FASTags for one vehicle won't be able to use them from today (April 1), the official informed PTI.
This step has been undertaken to enhance efficiency of the electronic toll collection system and offer seamless movement at toll plazas. Last month, the RBI had advised customers as well as merchants of Paytm Payments Bank to shift their accounts to other banks by March 15.
FASTag employs RFID technology for making toll payments, directly from prepaid or savings account linked to it, or directly the toll owner, PTI noted.
