Lamborghini launches Urus Performante in India at Rs 4.22 crore; plans to invest EUR 1.8 billion globally till 2026

Italian super sports car maker Lamborghini has launched the Urus Performante for the Indian market, shortly after its global premiere this August. Priced at Rs 4.22 crore, the Urus Performante accelerates from 0-100 km/h in just 3.3 seconds with a top speed of 306 km/h, as per the company release.

Globally, the company is planning to cross the 9,000 sales mark by the end of 2022. It is also eyeing an investment of EUR 1.8 billion till 2026 as the luxury carmaker accelerates its drive towards hybridisation and electrification.

According to Sharad Agarwal, Head of Lamborghini India, the Urus has been instrumental in opening new markets-driving growth for the brand in India. “This Super SUV offers a new level of lightweight, aerodynamic design and a sportier and more engaging driving experience: not only on road but in every environment. It retains the driving dynamics and versatility synonymous with uncompromising Lamborghini DNA while raising the bar for ‘fun to drive’ performance and distinctive looks,” Agarwal added.

According to the company, Performante’s power is increased by 16 CV to 666 CV and its weight reduced by 47 kg, giving it a best-in-class weight-to-power ratio of 3,2. Accelerating from 0-100 km/h in just 3.3 seconds and braking from 100 km to standstill in 32.9 m, the Urus Performante produces 850 Nm of torque at 2,300 to 4,500 rpm, with its benchmarking longitudinal abilities including a top speed of 306 km/h matched by its responsiveness, handling and stability. Aerodynamic efficiency is improved and overall downforce increases by eight percent.

“The Urus Performante’s very bold and characterful design perfectly integrates the improved aerodynamics incorporating the front bumper’s air curtain, with significant visual differentiation including the new lightweight carbon fibre engine bonnet and extensive use of carbon fibre throughout, reminding of its ‘Performante’ heritage. This benchmarking Urus is designed as a unique driver-oriented Super SUV,” says Mitja Borkert, Head of Design.

Future plans
Majority of Lamborghini's planned investment will go into developing hybrid and electric models. It is planning to launch the first model with hybrid technology in 2023 and targeting hybridisation of its entire fleet by 2024.

With an aim to achieve an 80 percent reduction in CO2 emission, the company is targeting to launch the first fully electric model by 2028.
