Battery Smart, Bharatsure partner to ensure safety of drivers and station partners

Battery Smart, a battery-swapping network provider for electric two and three-wheelers, has announced a strategic partnership with Bharatsure, an Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) Insurtech company to provide health and accidental insurance coverage to over 40,000 drivers and station partners within Battery Smart's network.

Under this insurance program, beneficiaries can access emergency treatment, medical hospitalisation, and day-care treatments, among other benefits, as per outlined eligibility criteria. Additionally, they are covered under accidental insurance policies to avail accidental OPD or lumpsum benefits in unfortunate incidents such as accidents resulting in fatality, hospitalisation, or permanent disablement.

As electric vehicle adoption surges in India, especially in the two and three-wheeler segment, there has been a significant rise in the number of gig workers and delivery drivers on the roads. Recognising the importance of prioritising the safety of its drivers and station partners, Battery Smart has implemented various initiatives, including setting up a 24x7 support helpline, in-app reporting, practical training sessions on battery handling and charging guidelines, and free EV health checkups. These efforts aim to proactively address safety concerns and reduce the risk of breakdowns or accidents.

Anuj Parekh, Co-founder & CEO of Bharatsure, shared "The insurance coverage will provide users with essential financial security, while also encouraging timely access to healthcare when needed. We are proud to be associated with Battery Smart which has taken the step to provide such security to its partners.”

Ankur Jhavery, VP-Business at Battery Smart, speaking on the partnership said “Recognising the need for well-rounded insurance to protect delivery drivers, gig workers, and small business owners, we look forward to working closely with Bharatsure. Its robust insurance policies will be instrumental in protecting our drivers and station partners, fostering confidence in the charge to switch to electric vehicles.”

This partnership not only provides a crucial safety net for gig workers and delivery drivers but also signifies a significant step towards promoting confidence in the transition to electric mobility.
