Tata Elxsi introduces Coalesce: A new XR platform
Tata Elxsi’s Coalesce, powered by the Snapdragon Spaces XR platform, offers immersive collaboration with spatial computing and digital twins, enabling industries to conduct product design reviews.
Tata Elxsi has launched Coalesce, an XR platform powered by the Snapdragon Spaces XR platform from Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. Coalesce is designed to facilitate immersive collaboration by integrating spatial computing, digital twins, and simulations.
The platform supports the review of product models and allows for collaboration through features like text and audio comments, notes, and screen recordings. It also includes a 360-degree review for enhanced interaction, helping globally distributed teams work together more effectively.
The Snapdragon Spaces XR platform aims to advance spatial computing, enabling the development of immersive experiences for XR devices. These devices support various enterprise use cases that benefit from spatial computing.
Coalesce is a web-based, device-agnostic XR solution that leverages the Snapdragon Spaces platform. It features a range of built-in tools, allowing users to navigate through intuitive controls and gestures. The platform also offers customization options through advanced features and integrates cloud-based content management systems (CMS) as well as generative AI. This solution is targeted at industries like automotive, manufacturing, rail, and high-tech, combining domain knowledge with digital technologies.
Unlike many XR platforms, Coalesce supports interactive design reviews using any VR device through a custom user interface. It is primarily focused on product design reviews, such as those involving CAD, but can also be used for training across various industries. For example, it enables virtual walkthroughs of manufacturing processes to facilitate stakeholder collaboration and accelerates automotive design reviews, reducing reliance on physical prototypes.
Aditya S Chikodi, Vice President and Head of Industrial Design, Engineering, & XR at Tata Elxsi, highlighted that Coalesce provides new capabilities for digital twins and performance simulations within the product development process. Per Neilson, Senior Director of Product Management at Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., expressed anticipation for Coalesce’s impact, stating that it will enhance collaboration and decision-making in product design and enterprise environments powered by Snapdragon Spaces.
