SIAM Conducts Road Safety Workshops for Commercial and Three-Wheeler Drivers in Delhi

The Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) conducted road safety refresher workshops for commercial vehicle and three-wheeler drivers in New Delhi during National Road Safety Month, which runs from January 1 to 31 annually.

The workshops were organized under SIAM's 'सुरक्षित सफर (Safe Journey)' initiative, in collaboration with Delhi Traffic Police and Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. The programme received corporate social responsibility support from SIAM member companies.

Two separate sessions were held at Institute of Driving Training & Research (IDTR) facilities. The first workshop for commercial vehicle drivers took place on January 12, 2026, at IDTR Loni/Burari, while the three-wheeler drivers' workshop was conducted on January 15, 2026, at IDTR Sarai Kale Khan. More than 200 drivers participated in the combined sessions.

The workshops featured comprehensive health screenings, including blood pressure, blood sugar, and eye examinations. Drivers requiring vision correction received eyewear, provided through support from Eicher Group Foundation and Dr. Shroff's Charity Eye Hospital.

Training sessions covered traffic regulations, defensive driving techniques, and responsible road behavior. Faculty from IDTR and Delhi Traffic Police delivered the structured programmes through interactive learning methods.

Senior Delhi Traffic Police officials attended the events, including Dheeraj Narang, ACP, Praveen Kumar, ACP, Kuldeep Singh Tomar, and Manju Singh, Inspector. They were accompanied by Vinay Dhingra, Vice President, SAFE and Senior Director at Honda Motorcycle & Scooters India Ltd, and Prashant K Banerjee, Executive Director of SIAM.

Banerjee emphasized that road safety requires collective responsibility and continuous driver awareness to reduce accidents. He stated that SIAM, working with member companies and enforcement authorities, remains dedicated to promoting safer driving practices and strengthening road safety culture nationwide through the 'सुरक्षित सफर' initiative.

Dhingra highlighted the importance of drivers to the nation's economy and emphasized that regular training and awareness programmes are essential for building a strong road safety culture. He noted that such initiatives help drivers better understand traffic regulations and encourage safer driving habits.
