Rapido collaborates with IndoFast Energy to deploy 10,000 swappable Piaggio EVs across India
The partnership aims to expand Rapido’s electric vehicle fleet with Piaggio’s swappable battery technology, installing over 300 swapping stations in Hyderabad and Bangalore by December 2024, supporting sustainable mobility across major cities in southern India.
Rapido has announced a collaboration with IndoFast Energy, a joint venture between IndianOil and SUN Mobility, to deploy 10,000 Piaggio electric vehicles (EVs) with swappable batteries across India.
As part of this project, IndoFast Energy plans to install over 100 battery swapping stations in Hyderabad and more than 200 stations in Bangalore by the end of December 2024. Rapido aims to incorporate these swappable electric autos into its fleet to promote sustainable mobility and support a portion of its daily ride operations.
Piaggio’s E-City Max electric autos, integrated with SUN Mobility’s battery swapping technology, provide the benefit of extended range and reduced downtime. The collaboration is expected to roll out more than 1,000 EVs across southern India by the end of 2024, starting with Hyderabad, Bangalore, and other major cities.
The partnership was first piloted in 2023 in Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Delhi, with the objective of integrating IndoFast Energy’s swappable battery technology into Rapido’s platform to improve the efficiency and convenience of electric vehicles in public transport.
