NueGo Equips Entire Electric Bus Fleet with Advanced Driver Assistance Systems

NueGo, India's largest intercity electric bus brand operated by GreenCell Mobility, has equipped its entire fleet of over 275 electric buses with Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). The company implemented this safety technology from its inception in 2022, positioning itself ahead of anticipated government mandates for such systems in heavy commercial vehicles.

The ADAS technology utilizes sensors, cameras, and radar to continuously monitor road conditions, providing drivers with features including collision warnings, lane departure alerts, and automatic emergency braking. NueGo's implementation includes specific technologies such as Automated Emergency Braking, Electronic Stability Control, and Driver Drowsiness Detection.

"Guest safety is deeply embedded in our DNA. We were among the first in the industry to integrate Advanced Driver Assistance Systems across our entire fleet — setting a new benchmark for intercity travel," said Devndra Chawla, MD & CEO of GreenCell Mobility.

Beyond ADAS technology, NueGo has implemented multiple safety measures including mandatory breath analyzer tests for drivers before each journey, reserved seating for women passengers, real-time GPS tracking, AI-powered driver monitoring, and 24/7 surveillance through high-definition CCTV cameras on all buses.

The company also operates a dedicated women's helpline, maintains hygienic mid-journey rest stops, and runs a 24-hour command control center to monitor operations in real time.

NueGo currently connects over 100 cities across India with its electric bus service. The buses can travel more than 250 kilometers on a single charge and undergo 25 safety checks, including mechanical and electrical inspections, before each journey.

The implementation of advanced safety technology comes as India's transportation sector faces ongoing challenges with road safety. According to government data, India has one of the highest rates of road accidents globally, with commercial vehicles involved in a significant portion of these incidents.

Electric buses represent a growing segment in India's public transportation market as the country seeks to reduce carbon emissions and dependency on imported fossil fuels. The central government has been promoting electric vehicle adoption through various incentive schemes and infrastructure development initiatives since 2015.

GreenCell Mobility, NueGo's parent company, is focused on developing sustainable transportation solutions across India, with the electric bus fleet representing one of its flagship initiatives in the passenger transport segment.
