New Tesla Model Y Performance revealed with More Power, Sportier Upgrades
New Tesla Model Y Performance gets uprated dual motor setup, adaptive suspension, sportier styling, and a more premium cabin.
Tesla has revealed first set of pictures and details of the new Model Y Performance, which will go on sale overseas in the coming months. The new for 2026 Tesla Model Y Performance variant brings a host of upgrades over the standard Model Y (on sale in India currently), including changes to the powertrain, suspension, cabin, and onboard tech.
On the outside, it is distinguished by larger 21-inch Arachnid 2.0 forged wheels, sportier front and rear bumpers, a carbonfibre rear spoiler, and red brake callipers.
The Model Y Performance is powered by dual electric motors, giving it all-wheel-drive capabilities. While Tesla does not officially disclose the exact output figures, reports from Europe suggest the motors deliver up to 460 hp. Borrowing the ‘Performance 4DU’ motors from the Model 3 Performance, the Model Y Performance sees its 0–96 kmph sprint time drop from 4.6 seconds to just 3.3 seconds, with top speed limited to 250 kmph. Tesla has also fitted new adaptive dampers in place of the standard frequency-selective system, improving ride and handling. A revised battery pack with high-density cells provides a claimed 580 km of range—slightly lower than the Model 3 AWD.
Tesla’s official website, however, cites a 0–100 kmph (0–62 mph) time of 3.5 seconds—0.4 seconds slower than the Model 3 Performance sedan, and just 0.1 seconds off the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N.

Inside, the Model Y Performance gets sportier new seats with added bolstering, extended under-thigh support, and power adjustment, including heating and ventilation. Rear passengers benefit from powered seat recline and heating, while carbonfibre trim replaces the standard fabric finish. The central touchscreen has also grown from 15.4 inches to 16 inches, and the SUV gets model-specific drive modes, while carrying over Tesla’s suite of advanced features, including Full Self Driving.
The new Model Y Performance will hit European roads in October this year, rolling out of Tesla’s Berlin Gigafactory. However, it remains unclear if this flagship version will join the Model Y AWD already on sale in India.
