India’s automotive leaders convene at IET Future Tech Congress 2024
Industry leaders, including top executives from Bosch Mobility, Altigreen, and Mercedes Benz, gathered at the IET Future Tech Congress 2024 to discuss the challenges in India's e-mobility sector, focusing on EV components, battery manufacturing, and the growing role of emerging technologies in driving sustainable innovation.
Leaders from India's automotive industry, including Sandeep Nelamangala, President of Bosch Mobility India, Amitabh Saran, CEO and Founder of Altigreen Propulsion Labs, and Raghuram Ramamoorthy, Vice President of Mercedes Benz, convened at the IET Future Tech Congress 2024 (FTC), organised by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET). The event focused on the challenges and opportunities in India's e-mobility sector.
The discussions addressed key mobility disciplines such as EV components, supply chains, and battery manufacturing. Additionally, the event highlighted how generative AI, the industrial metaverse, and quantum computing are becoming central to the automotive industry's collaboration with technology, aimed at fostering a sustainable future.
The theme of the conference, "Decoding Tomorrow - India's Component Conundrum," emphasised the importance of developing a robust Electronics System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM) ecosystem in India. The participants discussed the current state of EV components in India, the supply chain challenges, and the OEM perspective on the industry's future. The discussions also explored India's battery manufacturing ecosystem, focusing on the challenges and potential solutions for meeting the growing demand.
Shekhar Sanyal, Country Head and Director of IET India, highlighted the importance of a strong ESDM ecosystem to support emerging technologies in the face of global supply chain disruptions.
The event brought together a diverse audience of policymakers, industry leaders, and technology innovators, providing strategic networking opportunities. With a significant proportion of attendees being CXOs and decision-makers, the event fostered connections with a global community of thought leaders through various formats, including leadership panels, keynotes, and tech debates.
Dr. Gopichand Katragadda, President of IET India, noted that this year's FTC theme, "India's Component Conundrum," underscores the critical need to develop a robust ESDM ecosystem to reduce import dependency. The event aims to generate actionable insights to drive innovation and support India's digital transformation.
The event will conclude with a keynote on "Building an Indian Semiconductor Industry: Overcoming Barriers" by Dr. Arogyaswamy Paulraj, an Indian-American electrical engineer known for his contributions to wireless communication technology. The conference will also include the announcement of the IET India Scholarship Award winners and networking sessions.
