Hyundai Motor India Reports 58,701 Vehicle Sales in May 2025
Company attributes lower availability of select models to scheduled maintenance shutdown at Chennai manufacturing facility during the month
Hyundai Motor India Limited recorded total sales of 58,701 units in May 2025, with domestic sales accounting for 43,861 units and exports contributing 14,840 units. The figures were released by the company on June 2, 2025, from its Gurugram headquarters.
The sales performance came during a period when the company conducted its routine biannual maintenance shutdown at its Chennai manufacturing facility. This scheduled maintenance affected the availability of certain vehicle models during May, according to company officials.
Tarun Garg, Whole-time Director and Chief Operating Officer of Hyundai Motor India Limited, noted that the maintenance shutdown is a regular occurrence that takes place twice yearly for approximately one week. The company's Chennai facility serves as its primary manufacturing base in India.
The export segment continued to show growth, which the company attributed to its manufacturing strategy focused on both domestic and international markets. Hyundai Motor India operates under what it terms the "Make in India, Made for the World" approach, producing vehicles in India for global distribution.
Looking ahead, company leadership expressed optimism about demand prospects for both domestic and international markets. The company cited expectations of reduced geopolitical uncertainty and improved macroeconomic conditions as factors that could support future sales growth.
Hyundai Motor India Limited, established in 1996, operates as a subsidiary of South Korean automotive manufacturer Hyundai Motor Company. The company's Indian operations include manufacturing, sales, and export activities, with its corporate headquarters located in Gurugram, Haryana.
