Hyundai Motor Group Leads 2025 IIHS Safety Awards with 15 Top Ratings

Hyundai Motor Group has secured 15 models with Insurance Institute for Highway Safety Top Safety Pick ratings across its Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis brands, representing the highest number of awards among all automotive groups for the second consecutive year. The achievement encompasses seven Hyundai models, five Genesis models, and three Kia models under the organization's enhanced 2025 safety criteria.

The latest evaluations awarded Top Safety Pick+ designations to the 2025 Hyundai Elantra, Sonata, and Kia K4, adding to previously recognized vehicles including the Hyundai IONIQ 5, IONIQ 6, KONA, TUCSON, and SANTA FE. Genesis models receiving the highest rating include the GV60, Electrified GV70, GV70, and GV80, while the Genesis G90 earned a Top Safety Pick designation.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety implemented stricter evaluation standards for 2025, introducing enhanced requirements for second-row occupant protection. The updated moderate overlap front test now positions dummies representing 12-year-old children or small female passengers in rear seats to provide more realistic injury risk assessments. Vehicles must achieve a "good" rating in this test for Top Safety Pick+ designation, while "acceptable" ratings qualify for Top Safety Pick status.

The comprehensive 2025 IIHS evaluation criteria require vehicles to earn "good" ratings in both small overlap front and updated side impact crash tests, receive at least "acceptable" ratings in daytime and nighttime pedestrian front crash prevention evaluations, and feature headlights rated "acceptable" or better across all trim levels.

The IIHS operates as an independent, nonprofit scientific and educational organization focused on reducing motor vehicle crash-related deaths, injuries, and property damage through research, evaluation, and education initiatives.

The recognition spans multiple vehicle segments within the Group's portfolio.
