FASTag Annual Pass Surpasses 50 Lakh Users in Six Months

The FASTag Annual Pass has exceeded 50 lakh users within six months of its introduction, according to data released by the National Highways Authority of India. The program, launched on August 15, 2025, has processed more than 26.55 crore transactions.

The Annual Pass accounts for approximately 28 percent of total car transactions recorded on the National Highway network. The adoption rate indicates acceptance among private vehicle owners utilizing National Highways and Expressways.

Regional Usage Patterns

Analysis of fee plaza data shows concentrated usage in specific locations. Bijwasan Fee Plaza in Delhi NCR reports the highest adoption rate, with 57 percent of car crossings utilizing the Annual Pass. Mundaka fee plaza in Delhi NCR and Jhinjholi Fee Plaza in Sonipat each record approximately 53 percent of non-commercial vehicle crossings through the pass.

Regional distribution data indicates Chandigarh leads in transaction volume, representing 14 percent of total Annual Pass usage nationwide. Tamil Nadu accounts for 12.3 percent of transactions, followed by Delhi at 11.5 percent.

**Program Structure**

The Annual Pass operates across approximately 1,150 fee plazas on National Highways and National Expressways. The pass requires a one-time payment of Rs. 3,000, providing validity for one year or 200 toll plaza crossings, whichever occurs first.

Eligible vehicles include all non-commercial vehicles with active FASTag registration. Pass activation occurs within two hours of payment through the Rajmargyatra App or NHAI website, linking directly to the vehicle's existing FASTag account.

The program eliminates the requirement for frequent FASTag recharge transactions. Vehicle owners pay the annual fee once, removing the need for individual toll payments at each plaza crossing during the validity period.

The 26.55 crore transactions recorded since launch represent usage across diverse geographic regions. The distribution spans from northern urban centers to southern states, indicating nationwide implementation.

The pass structure allows users to track their remaining crossings and validity period through the digital platform. Upon completion of 200 crossings or expiration of the annual period, users must renew the pass to continue receiving the benefits.
